Description
The Orbit 235 (Occupational Rotational Bed for Independent Transfers) is a ‘step change’ revolution in rotating beds. Developed in collaboration with Occupational Therapists and end users, it builds on Theraposture’s understanding and experience gained since 1981. It provides the world’s first fully modular rotating bed which means its functionality and dimensions can be precisely adapted to perfectly suit a wider variety of user needs. It is ‘one solution for all’ which means reissuing is easier and long-term value is maximised for healthcare prescribers. It also eliminates the need to purchase a new rotating bed if user needs change so represents a truly sustainable, futureproofed solution.
Theraposture provides a range of rotating beds including the OT Show award-winning Rotoflex. The Orbit 235 now extends this offering with a solution that be pre-programmed with personalised movement and function. Both the electrically powered Orbit and Rotoflex, profile, rotate and raise a user from a recumbent to a seated position at the touch of one button. The beds can then be vertically raised to aid safe sit-to-stand transfers which reduces the risk of falls and can eliminate the need for carer assistance. With two carers visiting twice a daily, to assist with bed transfers, costing around £27,000 per annum, this independence represents a significant saving and means Theraposture rotating beds pay for themselves in a short space of time. Equally, relocation to residential care can be avoided – typically cost around £50,000+ per year.
