Accessibility Policy

The Eastin Web site has been designed using the most advanced dynamic HTML technologies and according to the most recent standards and accessibility recommendations defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

All pages of this Web site comply with the following W3C standards:

- XHTML 5
- CSS 3
- WCAG 2.0 level AA

As a consequence, the pages of the Eastin Web site are correctly and efficiently displayed by almost all browsers currently on the market: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera. Furthermore, the Eastin Web site has been designed for a fast browsing experience in any network bandwidth condition. The Web site responsive layout has been optimised for displays of any definition. Thanks to a careful design and to the compliance with the above standards, a fully satisfactory browsing experience is ensured with all kind of desktop or portable device (smartphones, tablets, pads and so on).

Notes on the WCAG 2.0 specifications.

“Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 covers a wide range of recommendations for making Web content more accessible. Following these guidelines will make content accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity and combinations of these. Following these guidelines will also often make your Web content more usable to users in general.” (source: W3C, “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0”, December 2008).

The compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 specifications level AA makes the Eastin Web site browser friendly for screen readers and in general for any browser used by people with visual impairments.

In particular:

- all fonts can be resized without compromising the layout and the readability of the contents;

- the colors of the texts and of the respective backgrounds have been designed for a high contrast ratio;

- wherever possible, the use of tables to format pages has been avoided. Tables have been used only to display tabular data: in these cases the browsing has been facilitated by introducing appropriate HTML tags, such as summaries, captions and headers;

- the use of Javascript- and Flash-based technologies has been reduced as much as possible. An alternate version of these pages offering equivalent functionalities is almost always available and it is provided to the browsers that don't support these technologies.

Since the pages of Eastin Web Site are built using dynamic HTML techniques that merge together information and HTML markup coming from different data sources, in rare cases some section of the content of some pages might be not compliant with the above standards.
