The examination requires the patient to assign words that have been heard to objects, with each target word in a selection of three object images to be identified by pointing (multiple choice). The word forms matching the three object pictures are phonologically similar, so that the correct identification of the target word is difficult. A qualitative evaluation of individual parts of the investigation enables the clarification of further differential diagnostic questions. The logotype model forms the theoretical frame of reference.
