Description
Product Type:
Electronic telephone directory and information system
Areas of Application:
For blind people at operator workstations
Description:
DL ETB, electronic telephone directory, is used in government offices, city administrations, universities, industrial companies, savings banks and courts. With DL ETB, the company provides an inclusive work environment for telephone workstations that significantly lowers the barrier to hiring blind people. Blindness-related speed disadvantages are compensated by an ergonomically highly optimized user interface. Inclusive also means that blind employees can work competitively. At the same time, the system also offers advantages for sighted users.
Operational processes and telephone system:
In terms of work organisation, DL ETB represents the interface between the telephone system and the specific organisational requirements of an authority or company. DL ETB controls any telephone system and can flexibly map the organisational structures of an institution. If, for example, callers are to be routed to the relevant advisors according to their last name, DL ETB knows that the letter ranges A to D and Lo to Pe are routed to extensions 318 and 319. Proper routing can also be based on file number, tax number, or account number.
Business Distribution Plan:
A component is available for DL ETB that displays the Business Distribution Plan (BDP) in a sample form that can be quickly used by the blind. Data from Active Directory and LDAP can also be made easily accessible with DL ETB. Intuitive searches for responsibilities, departments, room numbers and substitutions are quick and easy. DL ETB has also been developed as an information system for service centres.
Sustainable working environment:
Many programs with which blind users are supposed to work at public authorities or companies are either inaccessible or time-consuming to operate. In such cases, special adaptations have to be developed by software engineers for the so-called screen readers, i.e. the screen reading programs with which blind people operate PCs. This work is expensive and not sustainable. If the software changes, the adaptations often no longer work. The blind customers are thus in a structural dependency. DL ETB does not require screen reader adaptations and thus provides a sustainable working environment.
Flexible adaptations:
Medium-sized and large institutions in particular need powerful and ergonomically perfect software to help blind employees cope with the increasing flood of information. DL ETB can be quickly and easily adapted to changing requirements. For example, any lists, such as external telephone numbers, holiday replacement schedules or information on lost property can be easily integrated. What the voice output should announce and what should be displayed on the Braille terminal in which sample form can be freely defined. There is a separate brochure on the ergonomic optimisation techniques, which can be provided on request.
Other:
DL ETB is based on the DL Kontaktmanager software, which was presented as an inclusive solution by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) in the practical collection Health and Participation Working World 4.0.
