Indications:
- Severe lumboischialgia with muscular deficits in case of significant disc protrusion/prolapse
- severe, radicular, pseudo-radicular lumbar syndrome (conservatively resistant to therapy)
- Spondylolisthesis grade II or with recurrent lumboischialgia
- severe lumbar deformity with facet syndrome/arthrosis
- Condition after BS-OP without remaining paresis with cleared thoracic spine:
Spinal canal decompression one day without deformity
Thoracic spine surgery one-day
- Spinal canal stenosis with short walking distance without significant pareses
- Vertebral fractures of post-traumatic minor extent
- pathological fractures, e.g. plasmocytoma-threatening fractures
Contraindications:
The application and wearing of such aids may be contraindicated in the following clinical pictures:
- Skin disease/injury in the supplied body part
- for inflammatory phenomena, raised scars with swelling, redness and overheating
- Sensory disorders
- greater restriction of cardiopulmonary performance
- Danger of increased blood pressure with the aid of an attached device and increased physical performance
Side effects:
Bandages or orthoses that are too tight can lead to local pressure or, in rare cases, constrict blood vessels or nerves: Due to the principle of the bandage (delor dosage by increasing the intra-abdominal pressure), there may be an increased risk of diseases associated with increased intra-abdominal pressure, such as hypertension, venous reflux disorder, inguinal hernias, reflux complaints, etc.
Description:
Modular system (3-step therapy):
Stage 1: Immobilization in the unloading position
In the 1st stage, immobilization in the lumbar spine area in the unloading position is achieved by means of the thermoplastically deformable and height-adjustable plastic frame inserted in the back; rotation is significantly restricted. The natural rubber material used means that the patient remains partially active. During additional training, the extent of muscular atrophy is minimized.
Step 2: Reduction of flexion
In the 2nd stage, the rigid metal bars of the frame are exchanged for flexible bars. This initiates the adjustment to approximate the physiological lumbar lordosis, but the patient is still stabilized by the frame, the flexion is reduced and the physiological lordosis of the lumbar spine is approximately restored.
Step 3: Activate
In the last stage, the patient is left with the spinal support bandage with flexible limb support as a long-term aid. The aim is to restore the patient's original level, in particular full reintegration into the work process. The prescription of a lumbar support bandage with pad can be dispensed with.
