The STIWELL med4 device measures and processes the EMG signal of the weak muscle and compares it to a specific threshold. Electrical stimulation of the muscle, increasing its contraction, is triggered when the signal exceeds this threshold. To avoid muscle over-fatigue, the stimulation is followed by a minimum relaxation time.
The device provides the physician with therapy-relevant information from the average stimulation intensity and the number of stimulation channels used.
