Description:
The CoughAssist E70 mechanical insufflator and exsufflator allows switching from positive to negative pressure, creating an artificial burst of cough. It ensures that patients can cough up lung secretions. A rapid pressure change is generated by the mains- or battery-powered table-top device via a ventilation tube and face mask as well as a mouthpiece or endotracheal or tracheostomy tube, which subsequently causes a high expiratory flow from the lungs, simulating a coughing impulse. This technique is referred to as mechanical insufflation-exsufflation.
