Low-floor train
ICE L from 2024 (Deutsche Bahn)
Areas of Application:
- People in wheelchairs
- People with limited mobility
Description:
Low-floor trains have a particularly low-lying floor in the interior. This makes it easier for passengers with limited mobility to get on and off the train and thus facilitates barrier-free use of these means of public transport.
Deutsche Bahn has ordered new long-distance trains (ICE L) from the Spanish manufacturer Talgo, which are to be in service from 2024.
The "L" in the name stands for "Low Floor" and means low-floor entry.
