- The Compact 10 HD is a portable screen magnifier with a fairly large touch screen and is also available with a read-out function for printed text, the 10 HD Speech.
- The Compact 10 HD has three built-in cameras: a reading camera for reading text at a table (via a fold-out table support), a remote camera for viewing objects at a certain distance and the fold-out camera for viewing photos and placing signatures.
- The screen magnifier is operated via large and high-contrast buttons on the touch screen. There is a choice between simple or advanced operation. With simple operation, only buttons for magnification and contrast are shown. With advanced operation, the full menu becomes available with all settings.
- There is a folding arm at the top of the screen that allows writing under the camera. Due to the large space under the camera, photos, medicine boxes and round packages can be read.
- An image can be saved and then zoomed in.
- High contrast color combinations are adjustable; four combinations from sixteen options.
- The autonomy of the battery is approximately 2.5 hours.
- The Speech version uses the fold-out camera to photograph a sheet of printed text and then to read it in the desired language, including Dutch.
- An indicator at the foot of the Speech version helps to correctly position the document for optimum results.
- If the text has been photographed, reading will start. Even with a larger magnification, the text is displayed within the boundaries of the screen during the reading aloud. You can now pause the reading and walk through the text manually via the touch screen, without speech. This allows you to read without sliding the device back and forth over the paper; the entire page is stored in memory and the text is displayed within the boundaries of the screen.
