Product Type:
Disinfection Robot
Prototype
Areas of Application:
for example
- for relieving the musculoskeletal system, minimizing infection risks
- clinics, buildings and means of transport
Description:
DeKonBot 2 is the second prototype of a cleaning and disinfection robot for potentially contaminated surfaces in buildings, such as door handles, light switches or elevator buttons. Further developments compared to the predecessor model concern on the one hand the robot hardware used. DeKonBot 2 uses Metralabs' low-cost, differentially driven X3 platform and a UR5e manipulator, which provides the necessary flexibility for the cleaning movements to be performed. Also new is the brush-based cleaning tool, which is used to both remove potential contaminants and kill existing germs.
The robot reliably and precisely detects and locates all objects to be cleaned. Before the robot is used for the first time, the operating personnel only have to teach in the positions of the objects to be cleaned once, after which the cleaning robot acts autonomously. DeKonBot 2 can be used safely under human supervision.
The modular hardware and software structure allows the robot's functionality to be easily expanded or adapted to individual requirements. The modularity means that the technologies developed can also be transferred to other robots.
Other:
Project MobDi:
DeKonBot 2 was developed as part of the MobDi project, which is funded by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's internal "Anti-Corona" program.
The aim of the MobDi project is to develop new technical solutions for the efficient, but at the same time gentle mobile disinfection of surfaces as well as for the automated and hygienic transport of goods in buildings and for public transport. On the one hand, the project is concerned with the development of modular cleaning and transport robots that can be used flexibly for this purpose. On the other hand, key technologies in the field of robot perception are being developed and new methods for the analysis and - based on this - the targeted cleaning and disinfection of surfaces are being investigated. The benefits of the newly developed technologies will be validated with the aid of extensive practical evaluations.
In addition to the disinfection robots, a new transport robot is also to be developed for use in clinics and care facilities, which is characterized by a particularly small footprint and a highly maneuverable chassis. The hardware and software components developed in the project will be designed in such a modular way that they can also be transferred to other robots or used as stand-alone solutions.
