Description:
The vOICe for Android converts live camera images into image sounds (soundscapes). The app thus offers a representation for blind people through sensory substitution and computer vision. It also includes a talking color designator, a talking compass and a talking GPS system. In addition, The vOICe for Android can launch CamFind and Google Goggles by touching the left or right edge of the screen.
The app runs on Android devices and generates sounds of varying pitch and volume from recorded images. Examples: A rising line on a dark background is reproduced as a sound with increasing height. A brief glimpse of light is output as a short signal tone.
