Description:
Tactile orientation aids make it easier for blind and visually impaired people to find their way in road traffic.
Panels with sound bodies are used as attention fields. When triggered mechanically by stroking with a long cane or touching with the feet, a clearly perceptible and unmistakable sound is emitted. Optionally, a medium trigger weight of 40 kg, 60 kg or even 100 kg is available. With these panels, it is necessary for the panels to stand out clearly from the surrounding floor covering. Accompanying strips with a flat, low-joint surface that contrasts in color and texture with the hollow core slabs should be positioned on one or both sides of the guidance systems. These serve to better distinguish the guidance system from the normal road surface.
Material:
The floor indicator consists of high-strength concrete with modules set in concrete as sound bodies. Good colour and luminance contrast make the tactile floor panels easier to recognize and distinguish, even for the visually impaired.
Application example:
The floor indicators are used in public road traffic, such as at bus stops or crosswalks, and provide additional acoustic guidance in addition to tactile orientation. They are used where visually impaired and blind people are required to concentrate.
