Description
The idea behind the innovative STANDA standing aid comes from Drs. Marieke van Gehlen – de Boer. As a movement scientist and physiotherapist, she has regularly encountered (older) people in recent years who were considerably limited in their independence. Standing for longer periods, more than 3 minutes, is a limitation for many elderly people. The consequences of this are far-reaching. Additional help may be needed at home, the person becomes less active and, for example, no longer needs to go shopping. Not only does this physically cause a downward spiral, but social contacts and quality of life also suffer as a result. Surely something could be done about this? What is needed to help these clients maintain this bit of independence? The idea for the STANDA as a unique standing aid was born.
