Description:
The Punktum software offers exercises for tactile training, recognizing and learning letters, words and sentences in Braille. The tasks, which are in the form of text files, are explained by voice output and can be worked on independently. The software can provide any number of new tasks. Punktum is suitable for Braille instruction in groups and training outside of class, as well as for one-on-one coaching and distance learning via teleconferencing.
The software does not need to be installed, unpacking the zip file and saving it on a computer or storage medium (e.g. USB stick) is sufficient. A Windows computer, a ScreenReader and a Braille display are required for use.
Punktum was designed and developed by Christian Punz and Erich Schmied in cooperation with the German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBSV). Funding was provided by the self-help grant from Barmer.
