NaviLens is a marking system and app. A NaviLens code consists of blue, yellow, pink and black blocks. These are designed so that they can be read from a great distance by the app on the smartphone, without needing to focus and even in motion. Visually impaired users can use NaviLens codes because they don't need to know exactly where the icon is placed.
When a code has been detected, you as a user not only receive the associated information, but the app can also accurately guide you on the route to the block code.
The maker of such a NaviLens block code can assign information to the code. This can be text information, but also spoken information, a sign language video, a link to a website ...
The makers of NaviLens provide the necessary software to assign that info to the codes. You can print the necessary labels yourself, and use the system yourself for use at home.
NaviLens has been developed for navigation purposes (buildings, train stations, public transport in Barcelona), and some products (such as Coco Pops from Kellogg's, some Dash, Ariel, Coca Cola) have the block code on their packaging so that the product can be found in the supermarket, without having to hold the product to scan a QR code up close.
The NaviLens app is intended for visually impaired and blind users and is therefore built to be fully accessible.
NaviLens Go is a second app to allow other users to enjoy the benefits of the system.
Both are available for both iPhone and Android smartphones.
The app has a sound system that allows a blind person to accurately locate the label in space, without the need for headphones.
