Description:
Tess is a telephone interpreting service that uses either a written or sign language interpreter. It also transfers emergency calls to the appropriate emergency dispatch center free of charge and nationwide.
To use Tess, a computer with Microsoft or Apple operating system and the provider's software is required. For the sign language interpreting service, the computer must also have a webcam.
TeSign sign language interpreting service:
Deaf people call a sign language interpreter via a video connection at TeSign. The sign language interpreter establishes a telephone connection to the desired hearing interlocutor. The telephone conversation is translated by the sign language interpreter from German sign language into German spoken language and vice versa for both participants. Signs accompanying the spoken language are also translated.
TeScript written interpreting service:
Hearing-impaired people call a written interpreter at TeScript via a chat connection. They communicate their telephone request in writing. The written interpreter establishes a telephone connection to the desired hearing interlocutor. The interpreter then transfers the content of the conversation from written German into spoken German and vice versa.
