Description:
IMBA - Integration von Menschen mit Behinderung in Arbeit - is a profile comparison procedure in vocational rehabilitation for comparing the requirements of a workplace with a person's abilities. The procedure was developed by an interdisciplinary team of medical doctors, psychologists and work scientists. The assessment procedure is suitable for use in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation facilities or in companies, for example for the implementation of occupational integration management (BEM) or for risk assessment in occupational health and safety.
Work requirements and human abilities can be described and compared by defined characteristics. From a resulting need for action, targeted measures for the design of work and assurance of skills can be derived. IMBA serves as an instrument for quality assurance in occupational therapy or in activity-oriented medical rehabilitation.
MARIEplus is the new software for the computer application of IMBA. MARIE stands for Matching Abilities and Requirements to Increase Evidence.
The individual characteristics are assigned to nine groups of characteristics:
- Body posture (for example, sitting)
- Body locomotion (for example, walking)
- Body part locomotion (for example, arm movements)

- Work safety (for example, accident risk)
- Work organization (for example, shift work)
- Key qualifications (for example, teamwork)
