Description:
Health restrictions such as epilepsy, dystonia, idiopathic Parkinson's syndrome (IPS) or obsessive-compulsive disorder are caused by malfunctions in certain areas of the brain.
The Activa PC DBS neurostimulator is surgically inserted into the body - usually below the collarbone. The associated electrodes are anchored directly in the affected brain region. The stimulator uses them to send targeted impulses to specific areas of the brain in order to interrupt or block seizures or pathological mechanisms.
A programming device enables doctors to individually set, check and, if necessary, adjust the stimulation parameters. After implantation, patients can regulate the intensity themselves within these parameters, check the battery status and switch the device on or off.
The Activa PC can be surgically removed if necessary.
