Description:
Edge filters allow light to pass through almost unfiltered up to a cut-off frequency, but absorb a large proportion of the light from the cut-off frequency (edge) onwards. This results in an increase in contrast and a reduction in glare. Due to the darkened upper edge, the glasses lie close to the head and thus prevent disturbing stray light from above from reaching the eye.
The disturbing short-wave components of the spectrum in particular are filtered out, while at the same time achieving a high level of light transmission. This makes edge filter spectacles particularly suitable for the visually impaired. The edge filter spectacles are suitable for wearing over prescription frames.
