Description:
Alopecia areata is a relatively common form of pathological hair loss characterized by intermittent, disc-shaped and often very extensive hair loss. In Germany alone, around 1.4 million people are affected.
Tips on wigs:
Depending on how advanced the hair loss is, different hair systems can be considered. If the hair loss is only localized and not very advanced, a monofilament wig made of human hair is recommended, which can also be worn on your own hair. If alopecia totalis is more advanced, the NatureNet wig should be used because it can be permanently bonded securely.

Health insurance billing:

The valid prescription with the approval is sent to the manufacturer of the wig, who then settles the bill with the health insurance company.
An invoice can also be sent after the wig has been purchased, which the patient can submit to the health insurance company themselves. The insurance company will then transfer the approved amount directly.
The costs of an epithesis fabrication are settled directly with the patient's cost bearer (usually the statutory health insurance company). There is no personal contribution. As the epithesis is an assistive product, the costs for necessary corrections/repairs are also covered by the statutory cost bearers.
