The Activator is an innovative 40-cell Braille display with a foldable 2-in-1 keyboard, making it perfect for school or work environments. Thanks to the SmartDock, you can create a mobile workstation in an instant.
Two keyboards in one:
A key advantage of the Activator is its foldable keyboard with Braille input. With just one movement, the ergonomic Braille keyboard transforms into a full-fledged computer keyboard with mechanical keys. This allows the Activator to offer the perfect input mode for any application, whether it's Braille or text input.
The foldable keyboard is made of high-quality aluminum and, at only 8 millimeters high, is impressively flat.
The SmartDock:
The SmartDock, which connects magnetically to the Activator, creates a connection between the Braille display and iPhone, opening up entirely new possibilities. Thanks to the SmartDock, you can create a mobile workstation in no time.
The SmartDock has a USB port on the top that allows you to open and edit files from a USB drive via your iPhone. You can also connect other devices such as headphones, microphones, or SD card readers via the USB port. Your iPhone automatically charges when it's in the SmartDock, so you only need to carry one charger.
Smart Services:
Connecting to your iPhone extends the Activator's internal features with Smart Services. The first is a news feed service, optimized for use with Braille displays, which you can create based on your personal interests.
Speech Input and Output:
With speech input, you can easily dictate text instead of typing it yourself. The recognized text is then saved to a new file on the Activator or inserted into an existing file at the desired location. The voice output function allows you to have texts on the Activator read aloud via your iPhone. Deafblind Communicator:
The Activator can also be used as a deafblind communicator. The Activator comes with a cradle to connect your iPhone. You can then type on the Activator using braille input or QWERTY. This input is then read back in braille on the display and on the iPhone as text or speech via VoiceOver. A conversation partner can type back to the iPhone on an external keyboard, and this input is then also read back in braille on the display or on the iPhone as text or speech via VoiceOver.
Active Tactile Control (ATC):
Thanks to ATC technology, your fingers are tracked on the braille display and you automatically advance to the next line when you reach the end of a line. Ideal for programming or reading books and long documents. Without ATC, you would have to press a button 20,000 times to turn the pages of an average book. With ATC, you can continue reading uninterrupted. ATC also makes information more accessible. For example, when you touch the first letter of a sentence, the entire sentence is read aloud. Formatting changes in the text, such as bold or italics, are also indicated.
